Memorial Day Weekend Get-A-Way

This past weekend, we went away with couples from our small group for the Memorial Day weekend. Nate’s older brother and wife allowed us to use their cabin in the Jim Thorpe area. We arrived Friday evening and left Monday afternoon. The couples that came for the weekend were the Nate and Kara and their daughter Avery.
John And Michelle Schreier’s with their son Luke.
And us. We were even allowed to bring Baby.
On Saturday morning, the men went to a disk golf course in the area to play a few rounds. They had so much fun that they even got up early Monday morning to play another 2 rounds.
While the men were playing disk golf, the ladies went into town with the kids to do “girl stuff.” On Sunday, the ladies went out and the men got to hang out with the kids.
When the men came back from disk golf on Monday morning, we went to the playground and swimming pool.
Jay wanted to show off that he still had what it takes on the diving board.
This flip did not start out or end very well.
After swimming, the men played bocce ball and the ladies laid out in the sun. While we were at the playground and swimming pool, Baby enjoyed the cabin all to himself.
It was a fun and relaxing weekend with our friends.

Adoption Update

Amy finally got an email back from our contact at Pearl S. Buck stating that our paperwork will FINALLY be mailed to China either this Friday or Tuesday at the latest! We have had our paperwork in for about 2 months now, but we have been waiting for another couple who is in our group to complete their paperwork. Amy found out just before lunch and when I saw her, she was crying with tears of joy. Now we know that our max of 3 years has officially started. As of today, our adoption counter above shows that we have been waiting 11 months and 4 days for our little girl from China.

Braydon's Dedication

This morning at Calvary Church of Souderton, Braydon Godfrey was dedicated during the service. The purpose of a baby dedication is to publically pronounce to the congregation that the parents have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and that they will live out the gospel in their homes, reflecting Jesus Christ’s image in their life and lips as they raise their child. After the service, we went back to Griff and Barb’s house to celebrate Braydon’s dedication.

Today we went to the Bessler's house to celebrate Jesse’s 30th birthday. We had pizza and a lot of other snacks. We also hung out on their deck and enjoyed the nice weather.

Car Seat Troubles

Gwen gave us a car seat to use when Amy watches Braydon on Fridays. We used it last Friday but it did not seem to work like we expected. When we put the car seat in our car, we were able to strap Braydon in, but we could not tighten the straps. We asked Gwen about it and she said that before she gave it to us, she took it apart to clean it. When she went to put it back together, she could not remember how to assemble it. Today, Jay went online and found that Gwen had assembled the straps completely backwards making them ineffective. Thank goodness the straps and the car seat are now properly assembled because if we would have not discovered it, this could have been the result.
Or this!
Or even this!!!!

I guess that this is just another reminder to always read the assembly directions!
