New Moon Movie Night

Today Amy went with her friends to see the movie, "New Moon.” Amy has been obsessed with the books, has watched the first movie hundreds of times, and has been anticipating the opening of this movie. Tickets were bought months ago and as you can see, everyone bought shirts to wear to the movie.

Philadelphia Field Trip With Kayla

On Friday, Amy went on a class field trip to Philadelphia with Kayla. Missy was unable to go, so Kayla asked Amy if she would go as a chaperone. Of course Amy said yes. When the bus arrived in Philadelphia, the groups were on their own to explore the historic sites. First they went to the Constitution Center.Next they went to see the Liberty Bell. After lunch, they went to the grounds of Independence Hall. They did not have enough time to tour Independence Hall, but Kayla and her friend, Jessica had a great time in the square.
After exploring around Independence Hall, Amy bought Kayla and Jessica a large jawbreaker. This may have been the highlight of the field trip for Kayla.
Finally they went on the famous Duck Tour. A guide drove the group around the Philadelphia area in an amphibious vehicle. Once they reached the Delaware River, it drove in and they continued the tour on water. They toured Penn’s Landing and also sailed by the Camden Aquarium.
After the duck tour, they met back at the bus and headed for home. It had been a long day, but Amy and Kayla had a GREAT time together!

Mouse Trap!

This morning Jay went into the glove box of his car and noticed that several napkins were slightly shredded. Nothing unusual as that sometimes happens when the glove box brackets close on them. However, after looking at it more carefully, Jay noticed that there were also mouse droppings in the glove box. Freaked out, Jay called the Toyota dealer to find out how a mouse got in the car. The dealer told Jay that a mouse can get in any hole the size of its tail. We decided to put a sticky trap in Jay’s car and take the other car. However, when we went to get in the other car, Amy noticed that there were shredded napkins on the floor. Jay opened the hood of the car and inside a hole in the hood was the mouse staring at us.
We tried swatting at the mouse with a broom, but it scurried behind the hood inside the driver’s side panel. At least we now know that the mouse comes in the hood and then into the car. Therefore, we set up and elaborate trap trying to catch the mouse.
This mouse trap setup brings back memories of a trap that we made while on vacation with our friends in the Outer Banks years ago.
If only we can catch this mouse as we are terrified to go anywhere for fear of being attacked while driving.
UPDATED (Friday evening November 13):
We can home from small group this evening and in the glove box of Amy's car in a sticky trap was a mouse. Hopefully the mouse situation is no more and we can get back to driving without the worring that at any minute a mouse could be running rampant in the car.

Hot Air Balloon

Today Jay went on a bike ride. While riding he saw a hot air balloon in the sky.
He caught up to the balloon and waited until it was directly above him and took this photo.

Kayla's Glamorous Birthday

For Kayla’s 10th Birthday Amy took her and Emily to Glamalicious. It is a beauty salon just for little girls. Throughout the afternoon, the girls got pampered. They got their nails painted.
They got their make-up done.
They also got their hair styled in an up-do of their choice. Amy was a little jealous because she wanted her hair spray painted purple.
When they were finished, they posed for a few photos before heading home.
It was a day of luxury for two very special girls!

Halloween

Halloween this year was very soggy. It had rained all day and by 6:00pm when trick or treating started in our neighborhood, it was pouring. The weather did not stop the true trick or treaters as one by one they came to our door soaked but eager for candy. The Michalak’s were the first of our friends to arrive with their two children.
The Bessler’s arrived with their daughter.
Then the rest of our friends came to hang out. We did not get any photos of their kids because they had already changed out of their wet costumes.
All night, Baby monitored the door in his costume and occasionally went outside to keep a look out for more treaters.
Even though the weather did not cooperate, we went though 9 bags of candy and it was a fun Halloween evening!
